Digital fabric printing

March 30, 2014

The fabric designs I have been working on for some time have finally come to fruition. These digitally printed fabric items are inspired by flora of the Shoalhaven. Five-leaved Water Vine-Cissus hypoglauca is a rainforest vine common to the area. These digitally printed fabrics are developed by digitally layering monoprinted leaves, digital microscope images of plant details such as veins and surface texture and botanical drawings to create a rich, deep, image. The designs are sent to Frankie and Swiss in Melbourne to print onto their natural fabrics, then made into cushions, scarves and fabric lengths.
